The Tai Tapu Hotel's romantic wedding venue set amidst our lush grounds, in the heart of Tai Tapu with a view of the port hills, is private, yet only 10 minutes from Christchurch. Built on the old stables site the Tai Tapu Hotel Function Venue rustic building and sheltered lawns form an idyllic setting for weddings.

From the front spectacular cedar doors to the rear bi-fold doors opening onto the magnificent private patio and grassed outdoor area overlooking the picturesque Tai Tapu Golf Club and the Halswell River. 

The Tai Tapu Hotel Function Venue is a complete wedding venue from start to finish – enjoy the ceremony, photographs, reception and dancing all within our beautiful property.  We pride ourselves on the flexibility of our spaces and can make them work for any celebration. Our function room is an empty space, which is perfect for any couple to dress up in their own style. Our function room double doors open out onto a stunning private patio and grassed area overlooking the picturesque Tai Tapu Golf Club and Halswell River. It is perfect for an intimate wedding ceremony or for celebrations to continue to be outside

too.

Our full-scale commercial kitchen in our restaurant and professional management team have years of experience in the industry, looking after both big and small events so you can be confident you’re in good hands.

How We Work

The planning of your wedding and your wedding day can be the most exciting and gratifying time of your life, or the most demanding and tiring.

 

At the Tai Tapu Hotel we aim to take all the stress out of the planning and running of the wedding for you. 

We can host your engagement party, or a wedding welcome evening for your guests with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Bridal brunches, post-wedding barbeques and custom wedding cocktails are a few ways we can help create a stress-free and enjoyable weekend while you spend quality time with family and friends.

Your Wedding Co-ordinator 

Take the stress and pressure off yourself and enjoy the lead up to your wedding. Let us help you create a beautiful ceremony and reception here at the Tai Tapu Hotel.
 

 

Once you have picked a wedding package that includes our dedicated Wedding Coordinator, they will:

  • Work with you to understand your vision and determine the style of your day

  • Provide a tour of the function room and grounds

  • Create a Wedding Agreement to secure your date of the venue

Once your Wedding Agreement has been signed and returned, the Wedding Coordinator will work with you to manage every detail including:

  • Help decide the style of your wedding and how you would like it decorated

  • In addition, your Wedding Coordinator will be with you during the
    time leading up to the event and day of the wedding up to the value of
    5 hours to ensure every detail is executed flawlessly creating your
    perfect day.

  • Schedule your tasting with the Tai Tapu Hotel Chef

  • Recommend wedding vendors in the area such as florists photographers, videographers, celebrants, entertainment,

  • Invitation designers, bridal attire specialists and beauty consultants

  • Lay out your floor plan including placement of tables, dance floor, wedding cake and any additional displays

  • Develop a ceremony and reception timeline

  • Act as your wedding liaison between your selected wedding vendors and the Tai Tapu Hotel

  • Oversee ceremony and reception set-up, food preparations and all other Tai Tapu Hotel operation

  • Set up and pack down the function room

Our Wedding Packages 

We have a range of wedding packages to choose from all you need to do is decide which package and personalise it to make your big day perfect. 

 

Our package pricing is based on a wedding with a minimum of  50 guests and excludes food and drink. If you are planning an intimate wedding with less than 50 guests, we will negotiate to price accordingly.​ Food and beverage packages can be supplied upon request

Engagement Package $700

Gold Wedding Package $950

Includes the following:

  • One-day venue hire

  • Choice of catering options and beverage list

  • Dedicated staff member in the bar

  • Glassware, crockery and cutlery provided

Includes the following:

  • Two-day venue hire

  • Wedding ceremony in our manicured lawns
    and gardens

  • Choice of catering options and beverage list

  • Dedicated staff member in the bar

  • Glassware, crockery and cutlery provided

Ceremony Only Package $900

Includes the following:

  • Wedding ceremony on our manicured
    lawns and garden

  • 80 white chairs and rose petals

  • Sound system with iPod cable

  • Table and chair with white linen for document
    signing

  • Full set up and pack down

  • Full access to grounds for photographs

  • Beverage Station

Pearl Wedding Package $1600

Includes the following:

  • Two-day venue hire, min 50 guests

  • Wedding ceremony in our manicured lawns and gardens

  • Choice of catering options and beverage list

  • Dedicated staff member in the bar

  • Napkins. glassware, crockery and cutlery provided

  • 80 white chairs, rose petals and sound system with iPod cable

  • Table and chair with white linen for document signing

  • Function room set up. Guest tables set with white or black linen

  • Reception chair covers in white or black (subject to availability)

  • Coloured chair sashes also available (additional cost, POA)

  • Bridal table set with bridal skirting, backdrop and fairy lights

Diamond Wedding Package $2000

Includes the following:

  • Two-day venue hire, min 50 guests

  • Wedding ceremony on our manicured lawns and gardens with back up venue indoors. Set with 40 chairs,
    signing table and chair, sound system and microphone, red carpet and/or rose petals

  • Function room set up. Guest tables set with white or black linen

  • Reception chair covers in white or black (subject to availability)

  • Coloured chair sashes also available (additional cost, POA)

  • Bridal table set with bridal skirting, backdrop and fairy lights

  • Napkins, glassware, crockery and cutlery provided

  • Choice of catering options and beverage list

  • A hamper including champagne and nibbles for the bridal party (up to 8 to) take away when getting photos

  • Table service for bridal table

  • Free WIFI for wedding guests

  • Optional candy buffet jar

  • Gift table

  • Cake table and knife

  • Dedicated staff member in the bar

  • First anniversary dinner for two in our Restaurant, up to the value of $100

Platinum Wedding Package $5500

Includes the following:

  • Two-day venue hire, min 50 guests

  • Wedding ceremony in our manicured lawns and gardens with back up venue indoors. Set with 80
    chairs, signing table and chair, sound system and microphone and rose petals

  • Reception chair covers in white (subject to availability)

  • Coloured chair sashes also available (additional cost, POA)

  • Bridal table set with bridal skirting, backdrop and fairy lights

  • Function room set up. Guest tables set with white or black linen

  • Napkins, glassware, crockery and cutlery provided

  • Choice of catering options and beverage list

  • A hamper including champagne and nibbles for bridal party to take away when getting photos, or to be delivered whilst you’re getting ready to say “I Do”

  • Table service for bridal table

  • Free WIFI for wedding guests

  • Optional candy buffet jars and lolly bags with a personalised thank you sticker from you

  • Gift table set with linen

  • Dedicated staff member in the bar

  • Helicopter for the bride and groom to go get photos with a view
